#ThirdLoveStories: Nita Mann

Nita Mann ThirdLove interview

As a company that’s by women, for women, we’re constantly seeking new ways to spotlight stellar females who inspire us. This series is an opportunity to celebrate the ThirdLove community and share their incredible stories.

Meet Nita Mann, a 29-year-old law school graduate turned blogger. She’s most well known as an animal-loving, beauty influencer, but this Dallas-native has even bigger big plans in store. See what’s next with Nita ahead!

What inspired you to do what you’re doing now?

I graduated with a finance and business admin degree and went to work for JPMorgan for a few years. After that, I found myself researching into animal law and really grew a passion for animal welfare so I applied for an internship at ASPCA in D.C. and went there for a summer to learn and help as much as I could. At that point, I knew I wanted to get into policy work, so I furthered my education and went to law school.

Long story short, I started my blog during my first year of law school as a way to let out my creative energy. I quickly realized that there weren’t many Indian influencers and that there was a gap in the industry. I wanted to fill that gap and be a role model for other Asian women out there. After graduating and building an audience, my husband and I took a leap of faith and jumped into the blogging industry. The cool thing about what I do now is I still can help animals by educating my audience (plus, do policy work) and it’s such a special feeling. It’s crazy how things can come full circle for you!

When do you feel most confident in your skin?

I feel the most confident in my skin when I’m mindful of what I eat and drink loads of water! I start to feel healthier from within and it truly shows on the outside as well.

Did you have any insecurities growing up?

Tons. Who doesn’t? I have a deviated septum and because of that, my nose is one of my biggest insecurities. I’ve slowly learned to embrace my imperfections because yes, they make me unique but they don’t define who I am.

Who/what has shaped you to be the person you are today?

I wouldn’t say there is one individual person that shaped me today but I will say my family had a lot to do with it. I’ve always been a family-oriented woman and my parents and my sister really helped me be who I am today. They taught me how to love and how to be kind and that’s something I always want to pass along to others.

I would also say my husband played a huge role in who I am today as well because he’s the one that pushed me to break outside the box and be an entrepreneur. I truly wouldn’t be an influencer if it wasn’t for him!

What are your proudest accomplishments?

Graduating law school was definitely one of my proudest moments but even more than that was taking a leap of faith to pursue blogging full-time in a whole new city. Doing that took courage and it was one of the hardest but most rewarding moves I’ve ever made.

What impact do you want to leave on the world?

This may seem random to some, but for those that know me know that I hope to one day help animals on a greater level. I want to educate as many people around me regarding the importance of #adoptdontshop and I want to one day own my own animal sanctuary for those that weren’t able to get adopted. I strongly believe in always being kind and that goes for humans as well as animals. That’s something that should be taught and ingrained in you from birth.

What’s next for you?

New York. My husband and I are making the most of our time here in Los Angeles for the next few months but then we are on our way to the Big Apple! We want to explore different cities before we have kids!

How do you stay balanced?

Self-care and staying balanced is something I work towards every single day. It doesn’t always come easy to me because I’m constantly on the grind owning my own business. However, I quickly learned that in order to not get burned out, I have to take time for myself and I’ve done just that in baby steps.

I started waking up 30 minutes earlier than normal to have time for myself, which may include meditation and/or praying. I also have an Apple Watch that tells me to “breathe” every so often and I used to ignore it before, but I don’t anymore, and it’s really helped me stay on pace throughout the day.

In regards to how I prioritize, I write things down. I have a new to-do list every day and get through what I can. It’s important for me to remember that it’s okay if I don’t get everything done on the list in one day. Life happens sometimes and it’s okay to do things tomorrow.

What’s your favorite ThirdLove bra and why?

The 24/7 Classic Uplift Plunge Bra for sure!! It’s the most comfortable and flattering bra I’ve ever owned. The mesh detailing is my favorite part!

Tell us your ThirdLove Story.

I found ThirdLove through Instagram and bought my first bra (the 24/7 Classic T-Shirt Bra) and fell in LOVE! That bra was a game-changer for me because I always struggled with finding the perfect t-shirt bra. The rest is history after that one bra!
